Landmarks of Adelaide Drive
The Santa Monica Conservancy invites you to a rare public tour of spectacular historic homes on Adelaide Drive. Hugging the edge of Santa Monica Canyon, overlooking the ocean and mountains, the street was chosen by pioneering Santa Monica business and civic leaders as the location for their prestigious homes designed by eminent architects.

The tour runs on Sunday,Ā April 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. and includes visits to the interiors of two designated landmark homes that frame Adelaide Driveās historical period from 1906 through the 1920s:
The Second Roy Jones House
The Second Roy Jones House (1907), designed by architect Robert Farquhar, was home to a business entrepreneur and the son of city co-founder Senator John P. Jones. Roy Jones founded the Bank of Santa Monica and was active in developing the young city.
The Boehm House
TheĀ Boehm House (1925), named for the family who lived in the home for decades, is a picturesque French Norman Revival, with rich invention and fine detailing. Its recent restoration and expansion received a Preservation Award in 2025 from the Santa Monica Conservancy.
The walking tour also highlights prominent landmarks such as theĀ Gillis HouseĀ (1906), home of the head of the Santa Monica Land & Water Company and pioneering developer; theĀ Milbank House, the impressive restored 1911 Craftsman mansion topping a hill; and the Frank Gehry residence.
