Patty Tann, a seasoned educator with a 35-year career in unified schools, has been a pillar of the community since her days as a principal at Castle Heights Elementary. Patty’s journey began in South Central where she improved the lives of young people. She tackled the complexities and learned how to navigate and overcome significant obstacles to ensure her students received the support they deserved.

Through her tireless efforts, Patty transformed a once unsafe and unwelcoming space into a thriving community asset. Her vision and determination, alongside the support from Phil Brock and a generous $90,000 donation from the Kanas family, turned the once desolate area into a vibrant community hub. This accomplishment stands as a testament to her ability to rally support and drive meaningful change.

Upon retiring, Patty shifted her focus to community service, joining the Planned Parenthood and Annenberg House where she plays a pivotal role in instilling engagement.

Dave Tann has been a cherished resident, musician, and homeowner in Ocean Park since the mid-1970s. His deep-rooted commitment to the community is evident through his extensive volunteer work and his creation of “Team OPA.” This dynamic community project focuses on uniting students, parents, & board members.

His experiences exploring different cultures deepened his understanding of how music can unite people. His participation in task forces and sub-committees underscores his dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Santa Monica.
