As one of Santa Monica’s “lost buildings” this high-style Victorian building was downtown’s first major commercial structure marking the transition from a town to a city. Besides the National Bank of Santa Monica, it housed the city’s first library, post office, city council, the Santa Monica Water Company, the express office and a Masonic Lodge.
