The Santa Monica Conservancy invites you and your friends to our exciting virtual silent auction, Plates in Places, beginning Sunday, July 18 through Sunday, July 25. We are delighted to honor Santa Monica’s food legacy and the people and places that enrich our community and its neighborhoods by feeding our stomachs and our souls!

This week-long celebration of Santa Monica’s rich and diverse food history will feature special panels of chefs, farmers and restaurateurs hosted by Evan Kleiman of KCRW’s Good Food and Laura Avery, former Santa Monica Farmers Market Manager, to discuss Santa Monica’s food legacy and the impact of the farmers market on dining. And you’ll get the chance to bid on cooking classes, restaurant gift certificates, exclusive culinary experiences, luxury accommodations, specialty foods, wine and more.

Participation in the auction is free. Proceeds will provide essential support for the Conservancy’s community programming and tours. Help us spread the word by sharing this event with family, friends and neighbors on Instagram and Facebook!

Participating restaurants and hotels include Breadblok, Caffe Luxxe, Casablanca, Casa Del Mar, Fig Restaurant, Fromin’s Deli, Georgian Hotel, Gilbert’s El Indio, Huntley Penthouse, Il Forno, Local Kitchen + Wine Bar, Loews Hotel, Lunetta, Palihouse Santa Monica, Santa Monica Brew Works, Solidarity Polish, Tartine, The Albright, The Counter, The Gourmandise School, Thyme Cafe and Market and more!

Here are a few tips for those navigating a live virtual auction for the first time:

  • You’ll need to register for an account to start bidding.
  • After you bid, you’ll be notified if someone outbids you.
  • We kindly ask that bidders be in the Los Angeles area for delivery of specialty items and wine.
  • Betterworld, a nonprofit, offers this platform without cost to organizations. When you bid, you’ll have the option to tip, which helps Betterworld support nonprofits like the Santa Monica Conservancy. Please note that tips are processed upon each bid.
  • At checkout, you’ll have the option to cover the credit card processing fee. Please consider this option so that your full amount can support the Santa Monica Conservancy’s advocacy and programs.
