The celebratory event will center around the unveiling of a plaque recognizing Philomathean Hall as a Santa Monica Historic landmark. The unveiling of this new plaque will celebrate the history of the Philomathean Charity and Literary Art Club and their contributions to the Black community.
Current Philomathean members will discuss their organization’s mission, goals, and opportunities. Santa Monica Conservancy will partner with the Quinn Research Center and 18th Street Arts Center.
