Annual Holiday Party

We’re delighted to celebrate the holidays in the spectacular, landmarked Merle Norman House with our gracious hosts Shugi and Alexander Cassini. This year’s holiday party will take place on Saturday, December 1, from 3-5 pm at 2523 Third Street in Santa Monica.

Built in 1935 for cosmetics entrepreneur Merle Norman, this Mediterranean Revival residence is embellished with stunning Art Deco décor from the ’30s as well as current owner Alex Cassini’s art collection and photographs of his illustrious family, including his Uncle Oleg, a notable fashion designer and his father Igor, a society columnist.

Designed by architect Ellis Martin, the house features original wood windows, tiled patios, and a sweeping interior staircase. It also has some Streamline Moderne elements including original decorative tiling and fixtures in the bathrooms as well as a beautiful mirrored dressing room. The Cassinis have been excellent stewards of the property, incorporating new design elements that reflect their own sense of style. They received a 2017 Stewardship Award from the Conservancy.

Enjoy refreshments, wine and the company of neighbors and friends. Free to members, this party is our opportunity to thank you for helping us make an impact on preservation in Santa Monica.
