Santa Monica Conservancy hosts events throughout the year that allow the public to gain deep insight into local historic sites.
September 1, 2026: Sidewalk Talks: The Airplane Bungalow at 1921 20th Street
Sidewalk Talks bring our members into the inner workings of advocacy and inspire them to stand with us in support of special places with important stories worth preserving. In the first installment of this program on September 1, attendees are invited to a 15-minute presentation on the architectural and historical significance of the Unfried House, an Airplane Bungalow at 1921 20th Street. Following the presentation, the group will walk together to a no-host lunch or snack, where they’ll continue the conversation about the site and the Conservancy’s decision to nominate the structure for landmark designation.

May 17, 2026: The Shotgun House Tenth Anniversary
Celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of the Grand Opening of the Conservancy’s Preservation Resource Center at the Shotgun House at a block-party-style event on May 17, 2 to 4 pm!
April 12, 2026: Landmarks of Adelaide Drive
Hugging the edge of Santa Monica Canyon, overlooking the ocean and mountains, Adelaide Drive was chosen by pioneering Santa Monica business and civic leaders as the location for their prestigious homes designed by eminent architects.
On April 12, 1 pm to 4 pm, Santa Monica Conservancy hosts a walking tour, featuring prominent landmarks such as the Gillis House (1906), home of the head of the Santa Monica Land & Water Company and pioneering developer; the Milbank House, the impressive restored 1911 Craftsman mansion topping a hill; and the Frank Gehry residence. This rare program includes interior tours of the Second Roy Jones House and the Boehm House, a 2025 Preservation Award Winner.
June 7, 2026: Coastal Crossroads Launch
Celebrate Nick Gabaldon Day and Juneteenth at the debut of the Coastal Crossroads Tour, an exploration of Santa Monica’s coastal landmarks, public art, cultural sites, and Black history. For the inaugural event, four sites related to Santa Monica’s Black experience will be docented by esteemed historian Dr. Alison Rose Jefferson and her team of storytellers. June 10, 2026: Neutra Open Open House: VDL Studio and Residences (Preservation Next)
Join the Santa Monica Conservancy on Wednesday, June 10, at 5:30 PM for a special Preservation Next tour of the Neutra VDL Studio and Residences, one of Los Angeles’ most significant modernist landmarks.
June 14, 2026: Our Annual Meeting
Participate in the behind-the-scenes decisions of our historic preservation work at the Santa Monica Conservancy. On Sunday, June 14, we’ll be hosting our Annual Meeting at Masonic Lodge No. 307. This members-only event will include a presentation from Route 66 Historian Ian Bowen and our Board Elections.
